Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce and the Owen Sound Police Service are asking for the public’s assistance to help solve the following thefts.

 

In what are believed to be related incidents, the Hasty Market on 16^th Street East and the Mike’s Mart Convenience Store on 10^th Street East in Owen Sound both fell victim to cigarette thefts totaling approximately $11,000.00.  The thefts occurred between the hours of 12 noon and 3:00 p.m. on May 5^th 2003. In both cases the store clerk was distracted by a suspect while the other suspects removed cigarettes from the back of the store.  The majority of the cigarettes were DuMaurier and Players brands. Suspects were all white males in their late 20’s and may possibly be of East European descent.  Police also believe that a black SUV or mini van may have been used by the suspects.
