Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce and the West Grey Police
Service, in conjunction with the Ministry of Natural Resources, is asking for the public’s help in solving
the following fatal shooting of a horse.
The
incident occurred on November 6, 2010 on a farm on Concession Road 14 in
Glenelg Township.
The owner of the farm had turned her horses out to pasture at 6:00 p.m. on November 5th and when she
checked on them at 7:30 a.m. on November 6th she discovered her
7 year old Haflinger mare was dead and had apparently
been shot. An examination revealed the
horse had indeed been shot, probably by a high powered rifle sometime during
the night. The time span between when
the horse was turned out and found is outside legal shooting hours and
indicates that whoever shot the animal was probably poaching.
