Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce is asking for the public's assistance in reporting suspected outdoor marijuana grow operations.
Tis the season for certain horticulturists to head into rural areas to tend to their marijuana plants. Typically these illicit crops are located in areas such as swamps, cornfields, wooded areas, and along fences.
Marijuana plants are light green in colour with seven jagged fingers, have a "skunky" aroma, and can grow up to 7 feet tall.
Common indicators of an outdoor grow include bags of fertilizer and planting trays near trampled and cleared rural areas as well as suspicious abandoned vehicles and people observed near these spots.
If you come across an illegal grow operation then please be aware of the potential for booby traps - retreat and report your discovery immediately to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a secure Web Tip. You won't be asked to identify yourself, you won't have to appear in court, and you may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000.00.
